VERA’s steward grades are computed, not opined. Every grade is derived from cited public records — HPD housing-maintenance violations and complaints, DOB records, 311 heat and hot-water complaint patterns, bedbug filings under Local Law 69, and HPD buildings litigation — and every failure a grade names links to its source on the page where it appears.
If you own or manage a graded building
The fastest correction is at the source: if a violation is cleared, a complaint resolved, or a registration current, update the record with HPD or DOB — a later VERA sweep can read the corrected city record after the agency publishes its refresh.
If you believe VERA is misreading a record — wrong building, wrong join, stale data — write to hello@littlefightnyc.com with the address and the specific claim. Little Fight can review whether VERA joined or interpreted the public record incorrectly; confirmed misreadings are corrected in the pipeline. A dispute with the underlying agency record must be corrected with that agency before a later VERA sweep can reflect it.
What VERA will not do
VERA never contacts owners, never solicits, and never removes accurate public records from view. Grades are never edited by hand in either direction — they are recomputed from the record after a join or interpretation is corrected, or after the source record changes. There is no payment, relationship, or request that changes a grade.
Fair housing
VERA scores buildings and listings from public records and listing data only. It never uses race, religion, national origin, familial status, disability, source of income, or any protected characteristic in scoring or curation. Neighborhood focus reflects the active search brief — not a judgment about who should live anywhere.
