VERA

Privacy

Your hunt stays yours.

VERA has no accounts, advertising, analytics, or lead resale. Your saved hunt stays in this browser. If you choose to check an exact address, that address goes directly from your browser to NYC Planning’s GeoSearch service — not to Little Fight NYC.

Effective 4 August 2026 · VERA is operated by Little Fight NYC

The short version. We do not ask who you are, set a VERA cookie, or run analytics or advertising scripts. Saved listings, notes, viewing checklists, preferences, commute anchors, income, and confirmed address matches live in your browser’s local storage. The optional address checker sends only the address you type directly to NYC Planning so you can confirm the building.

What we collect

No first-party profile. There is no sign-up, email field, account, or password. Little Fight NYC does not receive your saved hunt, notes, income, commute anchors, or address-check query.

Our web host (Netlify) produces standard server logs — IP address, timestamp, requested file, user agent — as an automatic function of serving any website. We do not link those to a person, do not use them to build a profile, and do not sell or share them. They exist for security and uptime.

What stays on your device

VERA writes the following workspace state to localStorage:

That saved workspace data is not synced, backed up, or read back by Little Fight NYC. It is tied to one browser on one device, and clearing site data erases it permanently.

The optional address check

Some public listings omit or blur the exact building. If you submit an address in VERA’s confirmation form, your browser requests up to three possible matches from the official NYC Planning GeoSearch service. The request omits browser credentials and the referring page. NYC Planning still receives the address and normal connection data, such as your IP address and user agent, under its own privacy practices.

Nothing is saved until you choose a candidate. The selected label, match confidence, BBL or BIN, and timestamp then stay in this browser. The confirmation does not alter VERA’s shared feed, score, ranking, or owner grade.

What we publish

The console reads one sanitised public feed, usually named public.json, from redundant read-only mirrors. Before anything is published, the pipeline removes the private research layer — contact names, phone numbers, email addresses, working notes, and internal watch-list state — and neutralises subjective language about named owners. Building records, violation counts, litigation counts, and rent-stabilisation status remain because they come from public records.

Where the data comes from

VERA indexes rental listings that are already publicly posted, and enriches them with New York City and State public records — including Housing Preservation and Development violation history, Department of Buildings records, housing-court signals, and rent-stabilisation registries. It displays selected published listing facts and photos for analysis and links every record back to its original source.

Third parties

VERA makes only the network requests needed to operate: Netlify serves the site and may log requests; the public feed can load from VERA’s Netlify pipeline or a read-only GitHub mirror; OpenFreeMap supplies map tiles; and listing-photo hosts receive image requests when published photos appear. Those photo requests suppress the VERA page referrer, but the image host still receives normal connection data such as your IP address and user agent. NYC Planning receives an address only when you submit the optional address check. Clicking an original listing takes you to that publisher’s site and privacy practices.

There is no advertising network, tag manager, analytics script, session recorder, social widget, or font CDN in VERA. Its typefaces are served from Little Fight NYC.

Your rights

There is no VERA account to export, correct, or delete. You control the hunt data stored in your browser and can clear it at any time. A confirmed building match also includes a Forget this address control so you can remove it without clearing the rest of your hunt. If you have a question about this policy, contact Little Fight NYC through the main site.

Changes

If this policy changes materially, the effective date above changes with it. Any future change that introduced accounts, first-party personal-data collection, or behavioral tracking would require a visible product and policy change; we would say so plainly.
